Tanner Farms- Dawn and Brian Tanner

Location:Morton, IL

Project Details: When Dawn and Brian Tanner decided to convert their 1927 dairy barn into a home for their horses, they knew that Classic Equine Equipment could provide the right stalls that would marry the new upgrades with the old-style workmanship used by Brian’s grandfather when he built the barn at age 18. “This farm has been in our family for 5 generations," said Dawn, "and the barn is the only thing standing that is part of that history.”

Product Specs: Dawn and Brian began their project by replacing the roof and adding all new wood siding. The bottom part of the barn was made out of block and was covered with new stone. They also took down all the interior walls and part of the ceiling allowing an opening into the haymow and further exposure of the ceiling beams. In addition, they built a new house, shed, and grain bins, using stone on both the shed and house while also incorporating the tan color of the shed. Finally, the milk house was remodeled to become a heated tack room. Dawn and Brian decided on the Integrity stalls with swivel hay and grain feeders as well as window grills. It was a challenge installing the new stalls into an area that wasn’t quite square due to the old beams, but everything was soon completed to their satisfaction.

“We love the finished product with the old and new,” Dawn said. “Your stalls blend in well with the workmanship of Brian’s grandpa. Thank you for all your help with these custom stalls!! They helped transform this old dairy barn even more than we could have imagined!”
